Cash Money Records boss Birdman has came forward to clear the air on reports claiming Young Money head honcho Lil Wayne was arrested last night (February 12) in Los Angeles.

While remaining mum on the details, Birdman said there is no truth to the gossip.

Moments before Lil Wayne's Grammy performance, rumors began to swirl online that the rap star had been arrested backstage on gun charges. When Lil Wayne hopped to the stage and delivered a verse, some speculated that the authorities were waiting offstage to cart him away. Now it seems that the news was a false alarm, and that nothing of the sort happened tonight. "[It's] not true, he's good," said Bryan "Birdman" Williams, chief of Cash Money Records, in an electronic message to FORBES. "I never heard about that. He was good all day." (Forbes)

Speculation and rumors surrounding the misreported arrest landed online Sunday evening.

Rumor that Weezy got in trouble with the police surfaced just moments before the 29-year-old took the stage inside Los Angeles' Staples Center. When he the! n perfor med a dance tribute with the likes of Chris Brown and David Guetta, it was speculated that the authorities were waiting for him offstage. (Ace Showbiz)

The Associated Press mistakenly reported on Lil Wayne's arrest.

The AP report stated: "Rapper Lil Wayne has been arrested backstage at the Grammy's on gun charges. Details to come..." Just minutes after these reports surfaced, sources quickly backtracked and confirmed that all reports were fake. (Global Grind)

The rap star previously spent a stint behind bars on a gun conviction.

If Weezy had been arrested, it would not have been his first brush with the law. He was jailed for eight months in 2010 on a criminal posession of a weapon charge related to a 2007 arrest. (International Business Times)
