Mother of teen killed in after Lil Wayne concert suing Tinley Park venue

The mother of an Alsip woman killed when an allegedly drunken driver crashed leaving a Lil Wayne concert last year is suing a Tinley Park venue, claiming they provided the alcohol to the driver.
Megan Elam, 18, died exactly a year ago Tuesday when she was thrown from a car Sarah Lavko was driving while leaving the rap concert at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre.
Her mother, Debra Elam, filed the suit in Cook County Court Tuesday citing the states Dram Shop Act. The suit also claims wrongful death against the amphitheatre and its operator Live Nation, as well as the vendors who served alcohol at the concert.
Lavko was charged with reckless homicide and aggravated drunken driving, both felonies, in connection with the one-car crash in the 6200 block of 183rd Street, police said.
Preliminary investigation determined Lavkos blood-alcohol count was 0.197, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08, said Andy Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County states attorneys office.
Police Cmdr. Steve Vaccaro said witnesses told police the car left the roadway and flipped over four or five times, and that authorities found an open bottle of liquor in the car.
Megan Elam had been picked up at her home Saturday evening by a friend, her father Bill Elam said after the crash. That friend knew Lavko, who drove the girls to the concert, he said.
Two of the other three passengers who were in the car remained hospitalized.
