Adele, Lil Wayne, Rihanna and Lady Gaga headline 2012 Billboard Music Awards finalists

Even though the Grammys were over two months ago, Adele still has the chance to pick up even more awards. The 21 singer is among the list of 2012 Billboard Music Awards finalists, the magazine announced Friday. She is joined by LMFAO, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne as finalists.

Billboard announced that Adele leads them all as a finalist in 18 categories, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist. Rolling In The Deep is a finalist in seven of the song categories.

Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Katy Perry will compete against Adele in the Top Artist prize.

LMFAO was just behind Adele, finishing as a finalist in 17 categories. The Party Rock Anthem performers will go up against Adele, Perry, Bruno Mars and Rihanna in the Top Hot 100 Artist category.

E! News notes that Lil Wayne and Lady Gaga will compete in 10 categories, while Rihanna was nominated in 13.

The new artist category includes Scotty McCreery, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, Foster the People and Bad Meets Evil. The finalists in the male artist category are Mars, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Drake, Chris Brown and the nominated female artists are Adele, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Perry and Rihanna.

The awards are handed out based on an artists performance on several of Billboards charts, which are tracked by Billboard, Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound.

Billboard will hand out its awards at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 20. ABC wi! ll broad cast it.
