Lil Wayne praises Drake's Aaliyah album: 'An awesome collaboration'

Lil Wayne has praised Drake for creating a posthumous album for Aaliyah.

The Canadian star and producer Noah '40' Shebib are currently using the late R&B star's vocals for a new album to be released in the near future.

"Everybody knows what Aaliyah did and done for music and culture, period, and it's always good to do that, for not only for people like that, just for her fans you know what I mean," Wayne told The Associated Press.

"Drake's a very thoughtful person. Everyone knows that. It's an awesome collaboration."

The rapper also insisted that Aaliyah's back catalogue is "still awesome" and claimed that it's "better than a lot of music right now".

Key Aaliyah collaborators Timbaland and Missy Elliott have confirmed that they are not involved in the project, which has been approved by the star's family.

Drake released 'Enough Said' earlier this year, which features previously unheard vocals from Aaliyah.
