Lil Wayne Suing Quincy Jones' Son Over Unlicensed Music

Lil Wayne and his Cash Money team have been on the receiving end of a couple of lawsuits in the past year, but this time it's Wayne who's taking legal action for improper use of his music.

The YMCMB star has filed a lawsuit against Quincy Jones' son for using a few of his songs in a documentary, ironically about Lil Wayne, without his permission, TMZ reports.

The suit is being filed against Quincy Jones III for using songs like "Let the Beat Build," "Lollipop," "Mr. Carter" and "A Milli" in a doc called "The Carter."

The songs were pulled from Wayne's critically acclaimed album Tha Carter III, but Wayne says that producers never asked for permission to use the music. The documentary reportedly shows firsthand footage of Wayne, which would mean that he consented to being filmed, but sources tell TMZ that the New Orleans native disliked the final product, saying that it was a "scandalous portrayal" of his life.

The suit, filed via the Lavely & Singer law firm, targets producers for unspecified damages and aims to prevent them from using Lil Wayne's music moving forward.

Lil Wayne performed at the MTV Music Video Awards Thursday night with 2 Chainz. Backstage he told MTV News that he was proud of how far the Atlanta rapper has come. "That's my best friend, that's my homie from back in the day," Wayne said about 2 Chainz. "It's almost like I don't wanna say it, it seem crazy when I say it, but it's like watching your child up there. It feels too good; it's a weird feeling."
