In an interview given yesterday at the park's opening, Lil' Wayne told the Associated Press, "I just wanted to help out my city, help out the people and the kids and give them something to do, something they haven't done before. Lil Wayne Plus, DaVinci, El-P live on NPR, Freddie Gibbs & Problem, Homeboy Sandman humblebrags, and S.L.A.S.H. That video of Lil Wayne's deposition getting lots of LOLs isn't evidence that he's lost his marbles. It's proof of the American legal system's absurdity, and that Wayne is painfully aware of this fact. Growing up in the New Orleans projects, then becoming a superstar and getting arrested and jailed in New York for what was an obvious case of rap profiling could make someone like Wayne consider law and order and "justice" a big joke. This video is Frankie "I don't know nothing about that!" Pentangeli from Godfather II on steroids. It's a performance, with Wayne delivering the same overdose of personality found on his best records. He even puts on that sassy drag queen drawl he does when he's really disgusted. Lil Wayne helps build skate park

Lil Wayne has released 10 solo studio albums. The most successful is The Carter III (2008) with worldwide sales of more than 5m. Lil Wayne's built a skate park in Lower 9th Ward, New Orleans, one of the areas of the city left devastated by Hurricane Katrina. "I just want to help out my city, help out the people and the kids." The storm in 2005, one of deadliest in American history, killed more than 1,800 people and left hundreds of thousands of residents homeless. It's after levees, designed to stop flooding, were destroyed by the tropical storm. "I wanted to give them something to do, something they haven't done before," he said. The rapper, who grew up near to where the park is situated, took up the sport 18 months ago. "I thought it would be just a hobby, and I thought only people with skills can do it. "When you finally get into it and you learn to like it, you'll quickly learn to love it. It's more than just four wheels and a pie

Lil Wayne Opens Trukstop Skate Park In New Orleans

Lil Wayne began his 30th birthday celebration one day early, by cutting the ribbon to officially launch his Trukstop skate park in his hometown New Orleans on Wednesday. Wayne brought along his pro-skateboarding buddies Paul Rodriguez and Theotis Beasley to show off some of their advanced tricks for fans in attendance, while he treated them to a few of his amateur moves as well. The new skate park is housed in the city's Lower 9th Ward Village , one of the few buildings that survived the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. "I just want to help out my city, help out the people and the kids, give them something to do, something they haven't done before. It's always good to learn something new," Wayne told the Associated Press . Wayne's Trukstop skate park was constructed with recycled materials and runs on solar energy while including all the essentials for skateboarders to thrive half pipes, sliding rails and skating embankments. The new construction w

Lil Wayne Dethrones The King Of Rock & Roll, Passes Elvis Presley's All-Time Record

Young Money leader Lil Wayne has reportedly passed late music icon Elvis Presley for the most Hot 100 appearances among solo acts at the ripe age of 30. According to reports, Wayne currently holds nearly 110 Hot 100 chart landings . He'll always be the King of Rock and Roll, but when it comes to the artist with the most Billboard Hot 100 hits, Elvis Presley 's longstanding record total gives way to a new stats king: Lil Wayne. As he debuts as a featured artist (with Chris Brown , Tyga and Wiz Khalifa ) on Game 's aptly titled "Celebration" at No. 82, the superstar rapper rewrites the mark for the most Hot 100 chart visits. Now with 109 entries, Weezy passes Elvis Presley, who totaled 108 between the chart's 1958 launch and 2003. The "Glee" cast is the only act with more Hot 100 hits than Lil Wayne or Presley, having tallied 204 entries since its 2009 arrival. ( Billboard ) The rapper's run on the Hot 100 reportedly dates back to the late 19

Lil Wayne passes Elvis Presleys Billboard Hot 100 record

While Elvis Presley is still the King, he now has one less record on his list of achievements. Rapper Lil Wayne now holds the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 hits by an artist, but there is a catch. Billboard reported that with the success of Games Celebration, Weezy now has 109 Hot 100 singles, beating Presleys previous record of 108. Lil Wayne is one of several artists featured on the track, along with Chris Brown, Tyga and Wiz Khalifa and reached No. 82 this week. However, the catch is that Lil Wayne has so many Hot 100 hits because he has been featured on a countless number of singles by other artists. MTV News notes that only 42 of his 109 hits are solo recordings. The remaining 67 were recorded with other artists. It should be noted that the Glee cast currently holds the overall record for the most Hot 100 hits with 204 since the show started in 2009. Of course, the King would likely have sealed the record if many of his most familiar songs were released after the Hot 10

Lil Wayne tops Elvis Presley's Billboard record

NEW YORK (AP) Lil Wayne is not only making rap history , he's rock 'n roll history: the rapper has surpassed Elvis Presley as the leading male with the most entries on Billboard's Hot 100 chart . Lil Wayne now has 109 songs on that chart with the debut of Game's song "Celebration," where he is a guest alongside Chris Brown , Tyga and Wiz Khalifa . Of his 109 charted songs, only 42 are led by Lil Wayne; 67 are songs where he is the featured act. Elvis Presley totaled 108 songs on the Hot 100 since it launched in 1958. Presley's career kicked off before that and several of his songs like "Heartbreak Hotel" could not be included in his total number. The "Glee" cast has the most Hot 100 entries with 204.

Lil Wayne opens skateboarding park in hometown of New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS - Lil Wayne showed off his beginner skateboarding skills alongside a group of professional skateboarders Wednesday to mark the opening of the artist's new Trukstop park in his hometown. The Grammy-winning rapper demonstrated jumps but didn't always land on his board while Paul Rodriguez and Theotis Beasley from the Los Angeles area performed kick flips, board slides, hand plants and other higher-level tricks for the crowd at the park located in the Lower 9th Ward, one of the most devastated sections of the city after levees failed during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Lil Wayne told The Associated Press he started skating about a year and a half ago when he saw and was impressed by the skating skills of a 9-year-old boy and thought it looked interesting. "I thought it would be just a hobby, and I thought only people with skills can do it," he said. "When you finally get into it and you learn to like it, you'll quickly learn to love it. It's more

Lil Wayne Deposition Videos Released in Quincy Jones III Lawsuit

It's hard to describe Lil Wayne's deposition video . Some words that come to mind include "weird," "funny," "completely out of touch," and "menacing." The videotaped deposition came as part of Lil Wayne's lawsuit against producer Quincy Jones III over a documentary about the rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. Jones had a production team chronicle Lil Wayne's life for months as he was putting together the album "Tha Carter III." However, Lil Wayne apparently hated the movie and called it a "scandalous portrayal," reports TMZ. But you won't learn anything about the documentary, or really anything else, in the excerpts of the deposition video released by TMZ. Instead, you learn about a superstar rapper who acts like how you would imagine a superstar rapper to act. In the first clip, Lil Wayne is just uncooperative. He repeats questions as if they're the dumbest questions he's ever hea

Lil Wayne's Cops Attitude With Lawyer In Taped Deposition (Video)

Lil Wayne gave QD3's lawyer a major attitude recently, while being questioned during a videotaped deposition, as part of a lawsuit the rapper filed against the director over the 2009 documentary, titled The Carter . Videos of the deposition were leaked by TMZ.com on Tuesday (September 25), and they are hilarious. A defiant Weezy refuses to any question sincerely, when asked by Quincy's lawyer, Pete Ross. Hesays he doesn't remember ... often, and later, even threatens Ross, at one point, telling him, "You know he can't save you in the real world," referring to the judge. It's unclear why things are so hostile in the questioning, but in the lawsuit, the rapper says he's unhappy with the film QD3 produced, calling it a "scandalous portrayal." Is Weezy tough? Or just acting that way? You tell us.

Lil Wayne Brushes Off Court Deposition With Humorous Irreverence

Image
These days everything Lil Wayne does makes major headlines, but the Young Money boss took things to another level after footage of a June legal proceeding hit the Internet on Tuesday (September 25). TMZ unearthed edited footage from a deposition, where Weezy brushes off numerous questions from attorney Pete Ross with humorous irreverence. Ross represents Quincy Jones III, who directed the 2009 Lil Wayne documentary "The Carter." Back in September it was reported that Tunechi filed a suit against the director claiming that the film was a "scandalous portrayal" of him and during the June deposition, the rapper appeared dismissive and uncooperative. Ross confirmed with MTV News that the footage, though edited, was from the actual deposition with Weezy but declined further comment, noting that the trial will begin in two weeks. In the video, after Ross asks the rapper to verify that he had given an interview with Katie Couric, referring to his 2009 Grammy-themed ta

Lil Wayne Lawsuit Deposition Against Quincy Jones III [Video]

Posted: September 25, 2012 Lil Wayne is suing Quincy Jones III over a documentary film. While a legal deposition may sound boring, the young rappers one liners may make the lawsuit meeting one of the most humorous in history. The New Orleans native admits that he does not recall everything that happened in relation to the documentary film about his life, but what he does recall is outright hilarious. Quincy Jones III scheduled a production team to follow Lil Wayne around for several months in an effort to accurately chronicle his daily life as he completed Tha Carter III , a new album. Although the rapper was initially on board with the filming, he allegedly hated the movie and went so far as to call it a scandalous portrayal, according to TMZ . During the documentary lawsuit deposition, Jones attorney, Pete Ross, grills Wayne about his criminal record; this is where a lot of the not remembering comes into play. The Brown George Ross lawyer claims that the rap star threatened him, an

Lil Wayne Gives Crazy Deposition Answers in 'The Carter' Lawsuit

Cooperating with the law isn't one of Lil Wayne's favorite things to do. In fact, he hates it, almost as much as he hates NY. This was crystal clear in his recent deposition with QD3's lawyer, Peter Ross. During the taped question-and -answer session, Weezy is heard shutting down the majority of the lawyer's questions and even goes off on his own wild tangents. Currently, Lil wWayne is going to court with the producer of the 'The Carter' documentary, QD3. The YMCMB boss feels the film portrayed him in a negative light and has been against it since its release. Watch Wayne's deposition video below:

Lil Wayne Deposition -- Short on Memory ... but HILARIOUS!

Image
EXCLUSIVE It's the most entertaining legal proceeding -- possibly ever! In a videotaped deposition ... Lil Wayne -- who is suing Quincy Jones III over a documentary about him -- says he can't remember ANYTHING -- but what he DOES remember is hysterical. Q III had his production team follow Lil Wayne around for months to chronicle his life as he was putting together his album, "Tha Carter III." It appears Lil was on board, but things fell apart because the rapper hated the movie, calling it a "scandalous portrayal." Lil Wayne is grilled by Qunicy's lawyer, Pete Ross from the powerhouse law firm of Browne George Ross , who hammers Wayne about his criminal record, but the rapper claims he remembers nothing. And then there are the alleged threats Wayne makes against Pete Ross. Wayne says he wasn't threatening the lawyer. You be the judge. You gotta watch the videos. Writing Wayne's words in a post does not do it justice. There's so much more.

And that's what "Glee" does: just

Lil Wayne Ties Elvis Presley For Most Trips to Hot 100 Chart

Image
Lil Wayne and Elvis Presley / Photos by Getty Images Lil Wayne is positioned to overtake Elvis Presley as the male artist with the most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, now that he's tied the King at 108 times via his cameo on Juicy J's "Bandz a Make Her Dance." The Mike Will-produced ode to cheek-clapping strippers debuted at No. 71 on the chart this week thanks to guest verses from Weezy and self-namedropper 2 Chainz. No need to get all scandalized, though: The feat isn't as impressive as it sounds. Presley released 31 jukeboxes-ablazing singles before the Hot 100 was founded in 1958, so none of the tracks from his iconic self-titled 1956 debut apply to the record. That discounts early earworms "Blue Suede Shoes," "Tutti Frutti," and "Blue Moon," plus "Heartbreak Hotel," "Houndog," and "Jailhouse Rock." And as Billboard reminds us, Elvis plays principal musician on each and every one of
