Lil Wayne Sneaker Deal In The Works, But With Who?

By now you might've peeped some pieces from Lil Wayne's recently-launched clothing line TRUKFIT (which he's rocking in the photo above), but word on the street is that Weezy's also amidst signing a huge sneaker deal. He'll be following in the footsteps of fellow rappers Kanye West, who created the Nike Air Yeezy in 2009, and Jay-Z, who collabed with Reebok in the early 2000s for the S. Carter sneaker. WWD reports that Weezy is "close to inking his own sneaker deal with a major footwear brand," and Lil Wayne told Vibe magazine that it will not be Nike or Reebok.

The rapper is keeping extremely tight-lipped about the entire deal, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for any hint of what sort of amazingness is in the works. I mean, his love for sneakers is what makes Weezy Weezyremember, he was one of THE first people to ever rock a pair of Jeremy Scott x Adidas teddy bear kicks. We can speculate all day on who the big collab could be with, but when he talked with Vibe last week, they mentioned his heavy Supra sportage as of late, to which he responded: "Uh-oh. Watch out," followed by a laugh. Innnteresting. Will he hook up with a major sneaker company like Adidas or Puma, or will he go the skater brand route with Vans or Supra? Only time will tell, but right now we DO know for sure that TRUKFIT has definite plans to expand into additional accessory and apparel categories in the future. Looks like there will definitely be enough Weezy fashion goodness to go around.
